That fumble and that late interception

Tough game for Cocoa next week. How they play against Venice will tell a lot of their story. Their Defense looked really solid for them tonight. A few things to work on offensively, some mistakes I saw that need To be cleaned up. Should be a fun game next week, if nothing else.

Main difference in the outcome was our young receivers dropped too many passes and Mascoe missed a couple open shots.  Cocoa receivers made some clutch catches to keep drives going.  Our young offensive line needs to continue to improve as we only have one returning starter; he was held out as well as another with a leg injury and it showed early.  Moved a DL  (#52) to the OL in the second half and that settled the young group down a bit. Multiple illegal motion calls in the second half were also a factor as several were called against our center prior to the offensive line getting set as he tried to simply adjust the ball;  very questionable.

Commentary kept saying he took his hand off the ball after adjusting it which drew the flag. Game could've broke open for either team at different points. Cocoa had a major chance to take advantage of the series Chad Mascoe was out

Speaking of that series, is #12 related to Chad Mascoe as well

#12 was Bo's old number, he switched to #3 this year; reason given is that Chad is #2 and they add to 5 which was their dad's old number.  #5 already taken by Swint.  Backup QB is now #12- Gunner Holland a sophomore. Think he will develop into an excellent player by next year.

Another good one. The Mascoes are definitely playmakers for Osceola.

Cocoa had some missed opportunities to put it away early

Cocoa is lucky to be sitting 2-0. Both Vero Beach and Osceola have some very good players. Have to admit that Cocoa's D stepped up when it got really tight. Cocoa will need to play mistake free if they plan on beating Venice.

The Holland name sounds familiar. Did he have a sibling that was really good or is he good at another sport?

His Dad was a two-sport athlete at OHS about 20 years ago.  This young man was state champion @ 152 lbs. in wrestling as a freshman last year for the Kowboys who won three weight divisions and placed 2nd in another.

When the snapper takes his hand off of the football after final adjustment following the ready-for-play whistle, that is a dead-ball snap infraction foul. There is nothing "questionable" at all about that. That is a penalty pure and simple. That is NOT an illegal motion foul.

That’s what it was. I heard the Holland name years and years ago. I didn’t realize how old I was lol

The D definitely played alot better this time around. But idk I'm nervous about the Venice game. I feel like Venice will break that game open if Cocoa makes any mistakes and if the offense can't keep putting points on the board each series.

    • Consequently, Lake Minneola has just announced it has cancelled spring football.  What goes around comes around.
    • And lastly with the district classifications changing. Dillard new district foes atleast for the next two years are as following    *Northeast *Suncoast  *Boynton Beach  *Dr.Joaquin Garcia    never heard of that last school, I’m assuming they’re a new program.    but a district with no STA, GIBBONS, AHP, CHAMINADE, ELY, MIRAMAR, & ETC lets see if Dillard is still a above avg program & can run away with this district and be one of the top teams in broward.    or if they fell off even more from last year & this district will be a lot closer then most predict. Guess we will see.
    • They also just won the 7on7 broward county showcase a few weeks back. So hopefully that spills over to the fall season.    I know we got a new DC & OC this year & the quarter back spot is up for grabs. Especially after last years below avg offensive production. So we will see how things are shaping up against a very solid monarch squad in the spring game May 23rd @ Dillard.
    • They bring almost 80% of the roster which was 9th & 10th graders. They got a few transfers in but nothing crazy. Atleast not yet.    from my sources it looks as if the the second year head coach for Dillard is trying to rack up some wins under his belt & not scheduling above the talent he actually has which will either A. Get him fired after this season or see more kids transfer out or both.    if Dillard can go 8-2 or dare I say undefeated & have a deep playoff round (regional finals) that could One really put the program in a bright light for transfers & also instill a winning culture back in the storied program.
    • They were a Lake County all star team because they were taking all of the Lake County players.  First Academy hired the Lake Minneola recruiter and he took a bunch of the players with him to First Academy.  Now Lake Minneola has a depleted roster with a tough schedule.  The coach wasn't aware of this until he arrived and saw the roster.
