    Glades Central

Agree, with what Florida paying these coaches and the expectations of a place like Glades Central that's a very tough job. I believe that coach is from the area but he came from some where up north moving his family or what not to be let go within two years? What experience coach will take that job with the risk and low pay? I'm not singling out Glades Central but all public schools in the state we have a serious problem....two things are happening guys are coaching to build resumes to leave the state and the other guys getting fired within 2 years for various reasons and these administration teams are conducting nationwide searches as though these jobs are salary jobs instead of stipends....How can you conduct nationwide searches for stipend position what guarantees the administration can give these guys for the move they are making?

    Rules question

Just curious, did you see the play? There was no pulling back by the FSU defenders and nothing about the contact was incidental. Just to be clear, I recognize that the rules require a helmet-less player to immediately stop playing, which the UF RB did not do, so the penalty was deserved. But I don't fault the UF RB for letting his football instincts take over and continuing to run the ball (especially when he was 5 yards away from the end zone). Similarly, I don't fault the FSU players for letting their football instincts take over and trying to tackle the UF RB as he approached the end zone. But, if this is all about player safety, and the offensive player gets penalized when he continues to play, then the defensive players who continue to play and make contact with the guy without the helmet should be penalized as well. That's just my opinion.

I've actually considered it but I took another second job that doesn't let me officiate football games. Conflict of interest. As much crap as I give you I actually have a lot of respect and appreciation for the guys that do it. I have pretty good relationships with the ones in the area.

  6. Unfortunately some folks have a hardon for IMG, in that they recruit and the school is dedicated 100% to athletes, although they meet all of the conditions for an academic high school in the state of Florida. It is their right to support or not support any team they wish. However, I think it's foolish on their part considering the level of play you get when you watch them go up against another out of state national power.

  7. You don't have to play an out of state team to have a competitive schedule. Venice does a good job putting together a tough schedule yearly. The same goes for Columbus, Northwestern, Chaminade, Cocoa, Central, American Hertiage and Gibbons to name a few others. Dillard is in South Florida so it should not be hard to schedule quality opponents and I'm not talking about Miramar or Plantation. South Florida is full of state Champs and teams that make it to the state semis yearly. So having 3-4 of those teams on year schedule should prepare you for the playoffs. Recruiting in South Florida.... kids and their parents first choice is usually between STA, Central, American Hertiage, Gibbons, Chaminade, Northwestern and Columbus (no order). Parents are knocking the doors down to get in those school. Stop acting like those school have to recruit, they are a brand. They are usually turning kids away. Kids want to play for championships and kids also like schools that get a lot of attention. Also those schools have stability with their coaching staff. Most other schools in South Florida have a high turnover rate with the head coaches and staff which makes it hard to trust the process.

So, what you're saying JD is that Travis should have known he was down (it was his knee after all) and he should not have thrown the ball downfield where it could be caught by a defensive back who, having no clue whether the QB's knee was down or not, would have the audacity to catch the pass and run around with the ball as if he had just intercepted a live ball, thus wasting the precious remaining seconds. That way, FSU could have run one more play. Seems kind of harsh to blame all of that on the FSU QB.

  10. I watched the Bobcat's games, once again, against Bolles and Dunnellon two excellent top notch teams. The Bobcat's defense virtually shut down both teams offense. Their QB is a good one and their WRs seemed to get open a lot. This may be the best Buchholz team ever. I think it's good enough to defeat STA. After all Jesuit defeated them and I'm not sure that Jesuit is any better than Buchholz. Both American Heritage and Dillard also came pretty close. STA is expected to win but they haven't won yet.

  11. I still think the game is going to be somewhat close, but STA is just so disciplined and strong up front that I think they will wear the bobcats out by the 3rd quarter. I hope I'm wrong, because ifs ands and buts never won any wars but that’s the way it looks on paper.

  14. While I agree with most of what you’re saying and you know we’re cool bro, but until Miami central beats iMG academy I don’t think they can call themselves the king of Florida.

I think he is trying to say the coach didn't get the best out of his athletes. Could be said for many Florida coaches... they need to paid coaches more-better so Florida can hire better HS coaches.
