South Florida

7ASt Thomas Aquinas(4-1) @ 8ADeerfield Beach(6-0)   DB has beaten STA more than any other team.  These two have split their last 4 games.  DB won 6-3 in 2015 and STA won 14-0 last season.

3AAmerican Heritage Delray(5-0) @ 4AUniversity School(5-1)   University has won 2 of the past 3 meetings, including a 35-14 victory last season.

6ACarol City(5-0) @ 8ASouthridge(5-1)   Carol City has won the last 5 meetings, including a 44-0 victory last year.

4ABooker T(3-3) @ 8ACoral Gables(4-2)   Booker T has won the last 3 meetings, including a 34-21 victory last year.  The losses these two have had came against very tough competition.

Central Florida

6AArmwood(4-1) @ 7APlant City(6-0)    Armwood has won the past 7 meetings, most in blowout fashion.  Could this be Plant City's year?

8AOsceola(5-0) @ 5AJesuit(5-0)   Osceola won last year 35-0 at Osceola.

8AColumbus(5-1) @ 6ALake Gibson(2-4)   Normally this would be a blockbuster, but maybe not this year.  Nice chance for central FL folks to see one of the better teams from south FL.

8AGeorge Jenkins(4-1) @ 7ALakeland(6-0)    Lakeland has owned this rivalry and will likely win this one easily, but George Jenkins may put up more of a fight than they have in recent years.

6ALake Wales(4-1) @ 7AWinter Haven(4-2)   Classic Polk County rivalry.  Winter Haven has won 10 of the past 12 meetings, including the last 8.  6 of those 12 games were decided by a TD or less.

5AJones(4-1) @ 8AWest Orange(5-1)    West Orange has won 4 of the last 7 meetings.  Jones has won the past 2 of those, including a 21-10 win at home last season

4ACocoa(3-2) @ 6AMainland(4-2)  Cocoa won last year 21-7, but Cocoa's defense has been giving up 27 points per game on average.

North Florida

6AGainesville(4-1) @ 7A Buchholz(3-2)  This will be the 47th meeting between these two city rivals.  Buchholz holds the edge in the series 26-21, but Gainesville has won 7 of the past 9 meetings, including the last two games.

4ARaines(4-1) @ 8ASandalwood(4-1)  Raines won 55-20 last year at home.

5ATrinity Christian(5-0) @ 7AOakleaf(4-1)   First ever meeting between these two teams.

6ANavarre(6-0) @ 6AEscambia(4-1)  Escambia won last season 35-27, but Navarre won the 5 games prior to that.  These two teams typically play close.

...just added this game.

Cocoa gave up 93 points during the entire regular season last year.  20 of those points came during OT's.  Cocoa has already allowed 134 points in 5 games this year.  Somebody mentioned a running clock against Pahokee.  Cocoa better plan on scoring 60 to do that.:)

Venice vs Champagnat Catholic and IMG vs Superior Collegiate could both be nail biters next week, 2 very heavyweight matchups

Would've been nice to see Jenkins/Lakeland both come into this game undefeated.

I can see Jenkins coming into this game with some energy. But Lakeland should put this team away early, as long as they don't play down to Jenkins (which they sometimes have a tendency to do). Plus, this is homecoming for Lakeland. So, hopefully they don't get too caught up in those distractions.

Jenkins looks good at 4-1....but if you really look at their schedule, it's easy to see why they are 4-1. Gateway kind of exposed them a bit.

I went to Cocoa at Mainland tonight. Very good game to watch. Cocoa has better looking talent & played well. Bucs have a good Defense but were on the field all night & got gassed late. Bucs Oline is turrrible. Great kicker though. Hit from 36, 42, killed a punt inside the 10, kickoffs were right on the goal line. In 2nd half he was in his own end zone and the snap bounced 5 yds short - he still got off a beauty of a punt. Early 4th qtr it was 34-27 Tigers, final was 44-27 Cocoa.

The party is over for George Jenkins.  Lakeland and Osceola are going to put it to them.  Jenkins will finish 7-3 then one and done in the playoffs.  Still, its an improvement from years past and hopefully they change the culture of losing over there.

To be honest, 7-3 may not be enough for Jenkins to get into the playoffs. Their wins are all class 4 and at 4-1 they currently sit 10th in 8a Region 2 behind a 2-4 Dr. Phillips and a 2-4 Ridge Community. I don't see how this team would get into the playoffs without an upset over 1 of the 2 powerhouses as they will only receive 12 bonus points for playing playoff teams. This isn't to say they haven't done a great job this year. But the schedule strength may have a 7-3 team looking in from the outside

Its going to be close for sure.  Ridge still has Bolles and Winter Haven; Dr. Phillips plays Wekiva but the schedule afterwards looks equally weak to George Jenkin's schedule.

As I stated in a game update last night, Cocoa's defense is giving up a lot of points (27 points/game/average).  If they get a 4A semi rematch with University this year, it could be a shooting match.

Lakeland played flat, missed 3 xpts and still won 42-0 with a running clock late -

Not to mention turnovers too....

Cocoa, looked better then last year (IMO). They got speed, muscle, and a solid air game. The new coach has opened up the offense. The "D" is still loaded with athletes. The kicker is D-1. The future looks bright....go Tigers

    • This is probably going to impact several different schools. Sumner will probably lose several key players to transfer. This means some schools are going to be getting unforeseen boosts as well. You'd assume that the schools in that immediate area might benefit. But, in this day and age, some players could end up far away. Tampa Robinson lost their head coach to USC, and their top recruit transferred...to Chaminade in Broward County.
    • As reported by Josh on this site, Sumner's head football coach, Alonzo Ashwood, was dismissed.  No reason for the dismissal was given, but it certainly wouldn't have been based on the team's on-the-field performance.   I've got a hunch the coach crossed one of those pesky rule lines, perhaps one too many times, and left the principal with little choice.   Again, just speculation on my part.   It'll be interesting to see what repercussions this has for the Stingrays.   Here's a link to Josh's article: http://floridahsfootball.com/2024/05/20/alonzo-ashwood-dismissed-at-sumner-after-four-seasons-per-report/
    • Vero’s offense struggled the entire game, the lone score came on a scoop and score via a fumble. White showed the characteristics of a presumed first year starter. His ability is there no doubt, he’ll just need to settle into the starting role.    West Boca was much more effective- leaning on their 4* running back Javian Mallory, can see them having another good year. They would have probably won the game had it gone a little longer.
    • If all the talk from the head coach about Dillard being bigger and better this year and how last year in his first year was a trial and error for him, it better be an easy dub. Lol
    • As For my Dillard panthers , this will be a huge test for us before things crank up for real in the next few months.    right now Dillard will be coming in this game with a lot of questions. Whose gonna be the Starting QB after a lot of controversy in last year playoff lost to ely where the fans and some of the players felt the sophomore back up should have replaced the junior starter after constantly turning the ball over.    the panthers also will be debuting a new OC & a new DC for the 2024 season. Last year while the defense was average to above average. Our offense appeared to be very basic & vanilla with No real offensive schemes to get the playmakers open.    we’ve gotten a few transfers in & promoted a few great players from JV to varsity. & with this being year 2 of Dillards new head coach & being placed in a new district I’m interested to see the adjustments & progressions in this season vs last season.    this has the make to be a very good game if the weather permits for all 4 quarters, but until proven otherwise I’m going to take the knights in this game in a final score of    DILLARD 21 MONARCH 28 what do you guys think of this matchup @nolebull813 @FBGUY1989 @cribboy305
