Watching this game from start to finish all I can say is wow!!! MC WENT INTO STA and punched STA in the mouth hard! Yea Sta made some plays here and there but MC was clearly the aggressor and the BETTER TEAM!!! For years because of the strong dislike of dade vs broward I tried to convince myself dade and broward football was even but after seeing tonight it’s not even close. dade has this certain swag to them that I can only wish the Broward County teams had in Dade County they don’t give a dam about a star rating or how many d1 players u got in their eyes u bleed like them u sweat like them so they don’t fear NO ONE!! something broward once had in the 90s. OVERALL great game but sta in my opinion got exposed tonight I picked them to win but hoped that MC beat em but man oh man oh man MC is no joke and the sad part is they might not even be the best team in their own district which is SCARY AS HELL.!!! if that Mc Carol city game isn’t live streamed or nationally televised it will be a SIN against high school football lol. But congrats MC y’all Did that PS the crowds for the likes of MC MNW AND CC is no joke y’all don’t F OFF lol

Pahokee will win states this year

As a Vero fan, gotta say how impressed I was at Pahokee last night. Your facilities are top notch, fan support etc. For a 1A school to schedule (and beat) the larger classification schools shows just how much Pahokee’s program and community does with your athletes and resources. As you said, were it not for the turnovers, you win this game easily. It obviously comes down to Pahokee and Madison County again this year as the 1A favorites. Good luck going forward.

9 Interesting Games This Week 9/28/18

The actual game on the field is almost a side note to the intrigue in this matchup....

While is doesn’t have the state appeal of the above games, there is also Vero Beach(5-0) at Centennial(5-0.) This 8AD8 matchup will show if the Eagles are for for real or not, Vero won 30-3 last season.

Miami Central’s offense in the late 3rd and 4th quarter was a thing of absolute BEAUTY! They spread it out crazy wide and just did what they wanted. I’m not going to eat crown on the loss because Only fools thought MC had no chance, but I will eat crow on Underwood. Lol did I say he hated to run with the ball?! Oops! Talk about an unexpected wrinkle that murdered sta on 3rd downs. MC completely outcoached STA down the stretch. Why would STA punt the ball down 2 scores w/ 5 min left with MC’s O going full on super saiyen?! @“PANTHER NATION(CODE BLUE) Still hating on that dade county coaching?

Gotta clean up the turnovers though. 7 last night and 4 against Atlantic, can’t beat good teams beating yourselves...Hopefully, we can get J. Washington back sometime this season. There’s a difference between him and #9 and #24, he didn’t have any crutches last night, so maybe that’s a good sign

    Gunnar Smith

So, instead of making the Apopka game last night, I went to Lyman vs Lake Mary. The decision was driven by two factors: 1. For the past seven weeks, I have been working on a project that's been brutal in terms of the hours, particularly the past two weeks. It so happens that the project is less than ten minutes away from Lyman High School, so it was convenient to just go there after leaving work at 6:15 rather than make the long drive from there to Boone. 2. After Bad Bird mentioned that Lake Mary was starting a true Freshman QB, I had taken a look at Gunnar's Huddle highlights and I liked what I saw. Well, while Lake Mary overall struggled to beat Lyman, and did not impress me very much, Gunnar certainly did. This kid seems to have been groomed from he was in the womb to be a QB. How else can you explain his first name? As a true freshman, he is tall and slender, but has a rocket arm and a very quick release. What impressed me most about him, though, was not just his arm strength, but his ability to vary his throws. The kid knows when to toss the nice easy, floater, is able to to put the ball into positions where only his receiver can get it, he just seems to know stuff that many a senior QB does not. He has been obviously well schooled, but clearly has been an outstanding student. Assuming, he puts on 20 pounds or more, grows another inch or two, and continues to make normal improvement, this kid is destined to be a four or five star, pro-style QB recruit, with multiple offers, including many from the major college powers.

    3A, Week 5

Not that it makes a difference in the 3A race, but it appears that Chaminade got literally run over tonight by a big AHP line and a bruising rb. Two rb's each gained 100 or more yards. They simply do not have the size on their D.

    Vero 27 Pahokee 20

Vero is a decent football team with a good defense, They capitalized on turnovers. Pahokee did very little on offense. Special teams and defense kept them in the game. Vero is not a top 10 team in the state of Florida. If they are, then Pahokee has to be top 25. Honest observation!!!!

    3A, Week 5

After this week we will be at the halfway mark of the regular season. Pretty insane to think that it feels like we were talking about big week 1 and week 2 matchups. Week 5 has some doozy's on it though. Let's get to it! UPDATED CLASS 3A RANKINGS (Going into Week 5) #1) Chaminade-Madonna. Lions made short work of clearly overmatched Oakland Park Northeast running out to a 42-0 lead in the 2nd quarter. Lions didn't dress the entire team. C-M now gets ready to face their biggest test of the season so far- American Heritage Plantation. The Patriots have caught fire recently, this will clearly be one of the biggest matchups in South Florida. #2) Clearwater Central Catholic. Marauders dominated class 5A Tarpon Springs 47-6. In the game, CCC's passing attack continued to impress while the running game continued to produce without superstar Jerzhan Newton. CCC heads to St. Pete to take on an improving St. Pete Northeast team. #3) American Heritage Delray. If it wasn't apparent already, the Stallions are back. After completely dominating Monsignor Pace, the Stallions have announced their presence as a threat in class 3A. Stallions hit the road for a few weeks, but at this time it's hard seeing them hit any snags until a match-up with University School. Stallions also jumped from 101 to 57 in the Maxpreps Florida rankings, one of the biggest jumps for any team in Florida this week. #4) King's Academy. Lions rhomped Miami LaSalle last week racking up over 300 yards of offense (205 on the ground). Next up is a date with North Broward Prep. #5) Florida High. FSU School, coming off a loss, fell behind 10-0 to Chiles, but a strong second half helped the Seminoles eek out a win. Seminoles play Santa Fe next. Next up: Baldwin, Tampa Catholic, Cardinal Mooney, Orlando TFA, Benjamin. RANDOM THOUGHTS: Ocala Trinity Catholic looks really good. They're now 4-0 and could be heading into a late season contest with Orlando TFA undefeated. Ocala Trinity is fighting for a top 4 spot in the region right now. I would put OTC at #3 in the region right now. Tampa Catholic demolished Melbourne Central Catholic 41-0 in Melbourne. Tampa Catholic and Berkeley Prep both have bye weeks this week and then play each other on 9/28 at TC. Huge game for playoff positioning. Baldwin continues to impress at 4-0. Interesting game against Union County this week. Calvary Christian Academy knocked off Key West last week. Conchs are usually pretty good. CCA making noise in a loaded region 4. I think Sarasota Cardinal Mooney might go into their week 10 game against CCC undefeated. Lakeland Christian lost to Berkeley Prep last week 28-7, mostly due to the LCS QB breaking his leg the week before. LCS isn't out of the playoff hunt, but they'll need some big wins in the coming weeks. American Heritage Delray travels to Pensacola Catholic. Delray beach to Pensacola by bus.. I would need at least 10 bathroom breaks to make that drive. GAMES TO WATCH American Heritage- Plantation(3-1) at Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna (3-1) The Patriots are ranked #1 in class 5A, the Lions are ranked #1 in 3A according to the most recent sportswriter polls. AHP is also ranked #8 in Florida, while C-M is ranked #10 in Florida according to Maxpreps. Both teams are littered with major D-1 talent. Both teams are ranked in the top 100 teams in America. Both teams are defending state champions. Chaminade lost to Deerfield Beach, the #1 8A team 13-10 in week 1. In the game, the Lions fell behind early and a late rally came up short. American Heritage ran into a buzzsaw in Miami Carol City who is playing at another level right now. Pick: Chaminade has come up short against the states elite- either because of depth issues or injury. In this one, there is no excuse. The Lions are as close to 100% healthy right now as they will be for the remainder of the season, playing at home and had extra time to prepare for the Patriots due to playing last Thursday and not Friday. AH-P is going to be a tough out, but it's time for Chaminade to live up to the expectations of being an elite team and not a team stockpiled with talent that under achieves. I think they finally get it done: C-M 24, AHP- 21. Orlando First Academy (2-0) vs Calvary Christian (3-1) Orlando First Academy currently owns a 22 game regular season winning streak dating back 2016. The Royals stingy defense and Wing-T based offense has confused and bewildered opposing defenses. Calvary Christian (Clearwater) feels they're next in line to be a state power. They have coaching, players, tools and most importantly finances to be in the conversation. The program is lacking big wins though. Last year, the Royals defeated the Warriors 26-24 in Clearwater. Pick: Calvary Christian has run up the score on some pretty poor teams (Umatilla, Anclote), lost to Berkeley Prep and struggled against a good Zephrhills Christian team that was without its top 2 players. If Calvary can go to Orlando and snap TFA's streak, that would be a huge feather in the Warriors cap- but there is a reason TFA hasn't lost a regular season game in awhile. TFA 35, Calvary 21 OTHER GAMES I'M INTERESTED IN: Baldwin over Union County by 10 Cardinal Mooney over Lemon Bay by 21 MCC over Somerset Academy by 42 Ft. White over Bradford by 21 Ft. Meade over Lakeland Christian by 28 Ocala Trinity Catholic over Dunnellon by 17 Benjamin over Key West by 7 Kings' Academy over North Broward Prep by 20 COMING NEXT WEEK: I'm going to try and put together a nice mid-season post.

Yeah they still run wing T They did try to get creative with what looked to be end arounds and read option/triple option They did do well running the ball in first half but i think they wore down a bit in the second half, it also seemed like our speed both offense and defense caught Madison a little off guard, they struggled as game went along with covering our receivers I'm not sure what Pahokee has but if Pahokee can do spread Madison out and force Madison to have to play from behind they have a chance to win 2nd half Madison seemed to have to abandon the run game (at least compared to how they ran in first half) because they were too far behind and were forced to go to heavy pass which was probably something they didn't want to have to do but did it to try and stay in the game

All good teams have off days...just ask Armwood about that first game...the difference between good and possibly great teams is overcoming adversity when you don’t have your A game....Pahokee is a really good team with good fan base and home field advantage...Vero is a good team but some people act like they defending state champs or something...that hasn’t happened since the early 80s...it was a good hard fought victory against a good opponent on the road when not playing your best football

We should most def win out from hear ...fun fact this is the most points Dillard has scored since winning 70-0 over pompano beach back in 2012. another fun fact this is the first time in over 15 years Dillard has won back to back games by 30+ points. opened up district play last week with a 30 point win over rival Boyd Anderson 36-6 then we won 50-15 yesterday to win win by 35

Never singled out dade county’s coaching staff in particular I was talking about Florida as a hole in that aspect. As far as the “deep ball theory” that I did associate with some Dade County schools but as I said up top sta was completely out coached down the stretch and Miami central punched sta in the mouth.

I’ve been to Texas before.. Dallas to be exact beautiful city but it doesn’t compare to Miami or sfla period.. Most of the ppl work getting off at 5 trying to hurry up to get to a football game in this crazy ass traffic then gotta find parking..
  24. 1 point
If it isn't packed right at the start but a ton of people are in line to get into the game then who cares Idk how things are in Texas but just because they will sit in stands for 2 hours before the game over there don't mean that everywhere has to do that to have a good fan base for a game Some people have jobs and can't get there 2 hours early

I was wrong bout the 40 points and Pahokee showed up.... But Hokee has proven that they can play the good large schools very closely while Madison County couldn't hold their liquor last night. Pahokee should get through the rest of their schedule and I think they beat Gardens and Cocoa to get points for the playoff system

I don't know anything from an insider's perspective on this program. But I, too, am surprised and disappointed by their big decline. Has the coaching staff turned over? Are other schools taking their talent? There has to be some reason this has happened.

...not at all. Chaminade's a fine team. The "problem" is that some all-classification pollsters build them up and create unrealistic expectations for the kids. Without all of the poll hype, some would we saying "wow, a 3A team hung with an 8A school."

Central side was packed to the max and st Thomas side eventually got there ..but in the mid first qt st Thomas still had a lot of empty seats on their side and I even said dam because I was surprised. Maybe cuz the lines was so backed up and they only had limited people working the ticket booth. i guess what @OldSchoolLion is trying to say is at games like here in Texas and etc big games at that crowds in the thousands are their filling up the stands hours before the student section and band is in place ready to go before 6:30pm and etc.

Welll, that score last night was a bit surprising for Fort White given how Bradford has struggled so far this season. Hard to consider Fort White for rankings now given the fact Santa Fe has not been a high quality team as of late which is a commone opponent for Fort White (W) and Bradford (L)

    3A, Week 5

This is good information. Chaminade has nothing to be ashamed of, they played hard and gave AH-P their best punch. Chaminade is at 3-2, which is the exact same record they had last year at this time but unlike last year they were not blown out in their losses. They lost to the #1 team in 8A by 3 and the defending class 5A state champions. On paper, they're probably at where they should be- from here on out they'll be favored by a hefty margin in every game they play.

I can explain. When I first began doing the rankings years ago, I kept a “stabilizer” in for half the season which prevented exactly the problem you’re bitching about. However, I got a lot of flack about that because every year some perennial powerhouses would have down years and the computer had a tendency to rank them way too high until half way through the season. As a result, I removed the stabilizer and each team now basically starts from scratch. So now at the beginning of the year, the computer doesn’t know if Interlachen is better than Miami Central. It simply adjusts as the season plays out. I suggest you stick to “polls” because no matter what, my computer will not make you happy until playoff time....if that.
