Armwood vs. Lake Gibson

To schedule an out of county opponent in Hillsborough county the team wanting to schedule a different opponent has to find an opponent for the team they want to drop off the schedule. The county schedules the district opponents first, then tries to schedule games close in proximity, and then the top teams play each other. So, say armwood is scheduled to play sickles. If they wanna drop sickles to play an out of county opponent. Armwood has to find a game for sickles also. That's the hard part

Guess that why Armwood rarley plays out of county

And with the county having centralized funding, the school must provide for their own travel if they wanna schedule a different opponent than what the county assigned. So pretty much unless you're Plant then most Hillsborough county schools can't afford to travel

I believe Polk County is the same way. No funding for out of county non-district games.

I actually made the trip to see this game and let me tell you, this LG team has the fight of a hog in it. There were numerous times this game should have gone toward Armwood and this team kept making plays. Their defense was absolutely stifling for much of the game. One of the best defenses i have seen in a long time. I'm sure most Armwood folks would agree with me also. Offense struggled at times due to Armwood's defense being so fast, but they made the plays when they needed them. Next week vs. Vanguard should be fun considering their last meeting 3 weeks ago. But, this LG team looks hungry.

From what I hear Carol City's offense is not very good. Mainland is a lot more balanced. I know they will also have a much more difficult time scoring to get to Carol City than any other opponent that they played. However if the teams are basically even defensively and Mainland has a better offense I will lean towards mainland

i watched my squad lose composure and give up penalty after penalty to Charlotte... They are a solid ball club but they don't be able to stack up with either Mainland or CC.

Not to mention their top 2 players could be facing suspension after the FHSAA gets the film of some funny business which the officials didn't call.

It's all on their qb.. If the qb is on, they will score points and I beloved their other rb will be playing this game as he sat out the last 3 games.. That's a 2 headed running game and if Mainland stack the box , watch out... the only thing that bothers me about Mainland is their schedule.. Don't tell me Well they played Dr. Philips ... That's why I wish they could of founded a way to make up that Cocoa game... I don't think Mainland been hit in the mouth yet. Maybe cause their that good or that weak schedule...it's at Mainland so they will be the favorite..

    • There are zero coaches on campus, every single coach left
    • There is 1,750 kids in the school. That would be their fault if they can’t field a team of 40-50 players. I know it sucks about the mass exodus. I get it. But even though they won’t be competitive for the time being they should at least have enough varsity players returning, JV kids, and newcomers to field a team.    They should have had an assist at coach resume spring workouts, and maybe got in on a jamboree with lesser teams or held an inter squad scrimmage. But to cancel everything seems a bit erratic
    • From 2018-2021 when Dillard was one of the top 5 teams in broward we got there because on the beginning we schedule within our actual talent on the field, we showed success that we are atleast a avg program being able to take care of business against avg and below avg teams. And with the right personnel we can become above avg and actually contend.    and with that came a undefeated regular season in 2019 with a regional final birth, a undefeated COVID season in 2020 and a Fri county championship and a 1 loss season in 2021 and a second round exit on the road to homestead.    dillard has to get back to that. But scheduling central, chaminade , sta and etc of back dropping each game by 40 is not gonna help the program.    you can say “aye atleast we scheduled them we didn’t back down” like I’ve said several times on here lol. but there’s no moral victories in football. You either won or you lost.
    • I wouldn’t say okay with it because wether they was on the schedule or not I’m bleeding blue & gray all day ready for smoke with which ever team were lining up across.    but as a former player & coach I also understand that when you’re a second year head coach taking over a program that haven’t seen a deep playoff run since 2019 and over the last 5 years they’ve played chaminade 5 times (0-5), norland once (1-0) Central once (0-1) gibbons once (0-1) & on top of that you have a mass exodus of players after the coach before you left ; you have to build your program back up to a contending program before you try to schedule the big dogs of south Florida.    for EX: last year Dillard at STA, GIBBONS & chaminade on the schedule went (0-3) and each lost was by over 20+ the sta loss was 58-0. But those games had to be played because of the last year of the contract.
