@Perspective you have 5 more minutes to get your picks in starting 5 minutes ago.

Everyone else, Thursday by 6 please

I'm back in town, but swamped.  So, I'll have my picks to you by Saturday noon (and I promise I won't look at any of the scores from Friday night).   :D

Booker T vs MNW (Thursday) - I am going with Coach Ice Harris in this one. But the Bulls are dangerous.

Miami Central  vs Norland - I sense an upset

Pensacola Catholic vs Walton - Don't know much about either, but Catholic is usually a quality program.

Deland vs Seminole - The Noles have more depth of talent, but can't afford to sleep on the younger Darlington's offense.

Dunbar vs Lowndes - Lowndes has too many horses for Dunbar.

Pahokee vs Benjamin - Public over private in a very close game.

Spruce Creek vs OC University - University is flying under the radar.

Dr Phillips vs Olympia - Hard to forecast this game as these kids played on the same Pop Warner team, but Olympia impressed me more than DP when we played them.

Golden Gate vs Baron Collier - I like Golden Gate.

Jax UC vs Jax TC - If TC can't win this game, they have their worst team in years.

Dillard vs Plantation - I have faith that Dillard has turned the corner and look forward to seeing them the day after Thanksgiving after they put the Raiders out of their misery in a shocking upset the week before.

Escambia vs Chcotawhatchee - I have fond memories of Pensacola.

Picks are bold underscored.

In the "Miami vs Central Norland" match-up, if I go with "Central Norland" do I get credit for the correct pick regardless of who wins?   (In anticipation of a negative response, I'll go with the only 2 loss team I can ever recall seeing in MaxPrep's National Top 10 Rankings - Miami Central)

Walton

Seminole

Lowndes

Benjamin

OC University

Olympia

Golden Gate

Jax TCA

Plantation

Escambia

Gripe for the day:  Two Pensacola/Fort Walton beach games, and a Fort Myers/Valdosta game, but nothing from the Tampa Bay area.   Riverview (6-0) vs. Sumner (6-1) would have made for a good pick.   Even Plant vs. Plant City.  OK, gripe over.

Surprised you didn’t want 7-0 Titusville vs 5-1 Cocoa. It’s almost as if records don’t tell the whole story. Hmm

    • Dillard - I'm not sure that hiring a HS football coach is the same as bringing a student on board the team. I think that any school can hire any football coach that they want any time they want. They can even hire a football coach that is currently coaching at another school. Where did you find that it's illegal?
    • IMO the FHSAA should simply return to the previous rules that if a student transfers from one school district to another they would be allowed to in accordance with Florida law. However, that student could only transfer for academic reasons and would have to remain out of sports for the first full season of that particular sport. As I understand it, when the Florida Legislature passed the law that allowed students to transfer anywhere and at anytime they had academics in mind. It was a law that allowed students to transfer from a poor performing school academically to a good performing school academically and not for the explicit purpose of playing a game. I wonder if the Florida Legislature fully understands what happens when students are allowed to transfer explicitly for sports and how some of those transfers seriously disturb the natural flow of events with the sports team of those schools. To make matters worse they are now proposing that some high school students, that just happen to be good at playing a game, be paid for their participation. Truly amazing.
    • In the words of Chris Rainey...
    • Independent contractors....   What will go wrong with this?
    • I seriously can't remember how many times I had to do that very thing. Like Nolebull said in another discussion, the kids know kids from other schools and where the "hot hand" is. I never entertained discussions with kids or parents of kids from other schools. I know we lost some good ones because of it but I am ok with that.
