4-1 Cocoa vs 5-1 Seminole - Cocoa beats Seminole in a game that's closer than one would think.

3-1 Carrollwood Day vs 4-1 Florida High - Very difficult game to pick. If I trip up, this would be the one. 

4-1 Edison vs 5-1 Miami Palmetto - Wins a very close game. 

3-2 Jesuit vs 5-0 Bishop Verot - BV proves they are for real

6-0 Manatee vs 3-2 Venice - Venice wins again in a very close game. 

5-1 South Sumter vs 5-1 Zephyrhills - Another close game

3-2 Western vs 3-1 American Heritage Plantation - Patriots are a level above

5-0 Benjamin vs 5-0 Palm Beach Central - The bigger school wins a very close game.

Norland beats BTW by around 14.

Cocoa wins a shootout against Sanford Seminole. 

Florida High finds a way to beat CD.

Miami Palmetto flattens lowly Edison.

Bishop Verot keeps the good times rolling with a victory over Jesuit.

Venice pumps the brakes on Manatee's 6-0 start in a thrilling game.

Sumter dumps overrated Zephyrhills. 

AHP cruises over Western.

PBC gets a very hard-fought victory over Benjamin to stay undefeated.

Calvary Christian: fans will be chewing their fingernails all night, but they beat Titusville in a very tight defensive slugfest to end their 6-0 start!

I'm headed out of town bright and early tomorrow morning and will be out the rest of the week with questionable Internet service/availability, so, much to my chagrin, I've got to get my picks in early.   I'll miss out on those last-minute injury updates, suspensions, etc.  Nevertheless, here are my picks (subject to change on Sunday when I text NoleBull . . .  apparently that's a thing):

Your internet must be spotty now because you must have not gotten the memo. I put 2 Monday games. Palm Beach Gardens vs Palm Beach Lakes and Vero vs Ft Pierce Central
 

And the games are already in the 2nd quarter. 
 

Sorry for you. The best you can get is 8 this week. But thats a drop in the bucket for a go getter like yourself.

      I seriously can't remember how many times I had to do that very thing. Like Nolebull said in another discussion, the kids know kids from other schools and where the "hot hand" is. I never entertained discussions with kids or parents of kids from other schools. I know we lost some good ones because of it but I am ok with that.

In a lot more words, see the following: (From 2023-24 FHSAA Handbook) 36.2 GENERAL DEFINITIONS 36.2.1 Athletic Recruiting. “Athletic recruiting” is any effort by a school employee, athletic department staff member or representative of a school’s athletic interests to pressure, urge or entice a student to attend that school for the purpose of participating in interscholastic athletics.   and this . . . 36.2.2 Improper Contact. “Improper contact” is contact, either directly or indirectly, whether in person or through written or electronic communication, by a school employee, athletic department staff member, representative of the school’s athletic interests or third parties, such as an independent person, business or organization, with a student or any member of the student’s family, in an effort to pressure, urge or entice the student to attend a different school for the purpose of participating in interscholastic athletics.  See Policy 37.    In fact, if the kid contacts the coach at another school, the coach is not supposed to communicate with the kid other than to refer the kid to the person at the school responsible for admissions.    Best I can tell, there is no exception for being able to reach out to a kid who plays a sport that is not offered by the school that the kid currently attends.  Perhaps there should be . . . but then you'd really be opening Pandora's Box.

      1.  Ask around and get the kid's phone number. 2.  Call the kid.  3.  If that doesn't work, DM the kid.  4.  Once communications are established, try to convince the kid to come to your school.  There may be other ways, but I think this would be the easiest way to recruit a kid .
