Spectrum showing the games cut down on the attendance,  and I was surprised it was that much.

Not everyone has Spectrum, so for example, I was unable to watch last night's game on TV. I wasn't willing to spend $10 to stream it. I think it hurts attendance but only if the weather is damp, cold. I doubt fans from schools like Raines or Cocoa were watching on TV, when the drive isn't too long to the stadium.

TV showing probably hurts the motivation of the casual fan of high school football from showing up rather than the fan of the school.

I know the tickets allotted to Cocoa were sold out by 9 Tuesday morning.

My estimation was between 4000 and 4500. It could easily have been more since I counted 250 and then rows of 250 and added them all together for a guess. Miami Northwestern was there for the first half and a lot of people walking around and I didn't include those.

4A - 3856 / 4276 (+420)
5A - 3119 / 4143 (+1024)
6A - 6715 / 5805 (-910)
7A - 4735 / --

ALL - 33,082 / 19,228

Looks like Attendance hasn't took up comparing to last season, and will be about the same or lower for this season.

I think the last time we had big crowds was when the championship games were in south fla...

Yup. All classes combined in Miami for 2006 season was 56,453 which is an FHSAA combined classification record. (Have to note that Orlando in 2007 did draw 52,750 which is it's lone good year.)

Here are the yearly attendance numbers from 2007-2017 when the state championships have been held in Orlando.

2008 = 36,087 (-16,663)
2009 = 33,008 (-3,079)
2010 = 33,653 (+645)
2011 = 27,164 (-6,489)
2012 = 29,953 (+2789)
2013 = 25,603 (-4,350)
2014 = 28,062 (+2,459)
2015 = 29,078 (+1,016)
2016 = 33,082 (+4,004)
2017 =  30,719 (-2363)

Maybe for playing field, but not for attendance.

If talking attendance, somewhere in South Florida seems to be the most ideal setting -- the only problem is where in South Florida.

Why put it in south Florida where you will have panhandle teams traveling 10 hours for south Florida teams having it next door

The idea is for state finals to be centralized location

And technically the teams in the north like niceville, madison, St Augustine for example bring better crowds than most south Florida teams so idealy moving it to north would increase attendence but honestly it isn't where it is but who goes that determines attendence

Years where niceville, st Augustine and heck even last time Columbia went is when you get high numbers

You can move to south Florida but attendence won't improve if the  teams with established fan bases don't make it
