I am a HS football nut. Has not mattered where we live, I simply follow and root for the home team. 5 months ago we moved to Venice from Arizona. I went to Miami for the KOC against Northwestern last week. I really don't know too much about the lay of the land here as of yet.

That said, Venice is off this week. I have a serious need to be at a game. Any suggestions on a game I should go to this week? I would rather keep the drive to an hour or less if I can.

Best game of the week in Florida will be battle of the Saints as in St. Thomas vs St. Frances in Ft. Lauderdale. I believe it is being played at Brian Piccolo stadium.

If an hour or less is the cutoff, then you may want to go watch Charlotte, Manatee or one of the teams from Fort Myers play. If you are more flexible on distance, then see @Cat_Scratchsuggestion. Another flexible suggestion would be to come to the Orlando area and watch Sarasota Riverview (from your neck of the woods) take on the defending 8A State champion, Sanford Seminole. This game could be an attractive one. However, the drive would be a bit more than 2 hours.

If it has to be in the area then you have Riverdale vs Ft Myers, Charlotte vs Island Coast and Baron Collier vs Sarasota

Thats a really weak area for football. It’s Venice, Palmetto, and Manatee and that’s it.

Lee County has never won a football title. Sarasota only has 2 total. So you definitely can’t be picky when looking for a game

Good game is Gulliver Prep @ Bradenton Manatee.

Hello Mike E, welcome to this message board. What part of Arizona did you reside in, and which teams/schools did you attend games of mostly? Also, did you notice anything about the officiating in Arizona High School Football? Thank you. and we look forward to your point-of-view.

Thanks all for the feedback!  I think I will end up at Manatee v Gulliver Prep.  I saw Manatee in the spring game and they had an absolute bowling ball at running back. Gulliver is ranked top 100 by Maxpreps.  Should be entertaining.

There's several Seminole teams in Florida why would I look up a game when I don't know which one and if the team is actually good

The one that won state last year

@ColumbiaHighFan2017classYou guys think this will be a tight one? Manatee is solid this year, but they don't have the horses to keep up with this Gulliver squad. I got Gulliver by double digits here.

That’s what I’m thinking. They beat down a decent Killian team last week.

I seem to recall that Sanford is hosting Sarasota Riverview.   Had it been the other way around, that's the game I would have recommended (because the drive would be an hour less).

Since he's living in Venice, it would have been a good chance to scout a potential State Title opponent.

    • Nolebull, I'm not sure who you're referring to when you talk about the "jealous" and "disdainful" people.  Bridgewater has put the MNW administrators in between a rock and a hard place.   He basically came right out and said "I've been breaking the rules and if you don't like it, tough sh*t."  The MNW admin folks have two choices:  try to take matters into their own hands in hopes that the FHSAA will go easy on them or, alternatively, put their collective heads into the sand, ignore Bridgewater's public confession and hope that the matter quietly goes away.  Oh, and it ain't going away.
    • Sure, but going about it this way will bring more attention to the absurdity of it all. Teddy is going to be just fine given his finances and reputation. The average high school coach who occasionally spends his own money like that, couldn't overcome getting caught helping.  If coaches REALLY wanted to bring about change, they'd have large email chat groups and decide to all come out together, at once, and proclaim that they, too, sometimes dip into their own pocket to help cover expenses. I suppose the schools and/or FHSAA could always cancel the season so as to administer punishments to all the guilty coaches for their generosity.  tl;dr: JUST SAY NO TO COMMUNISM.
    • Imagine the jealously and disdain you have to have for someone that brought you a state title, bringing in top flight talent, so much exposure, huge showcase game against a national brand opponent, all while forking out your own money to do it for some punk clowns to undermine you and try and push you out. SMH.    You know in SFL you can get really good or really bad real fast. So I wouldn’t shocked if this all ends in a dumpster fire that kids start to jump ship and they struggle to maintain the standard
    • If Bridgewater does get 'taken down,' I'd like to see him take a whole bunch of other guys down with him.  No reason why he should be the singular sacrificial lamb.
