Look's like  Plantation might have an opening...

Not sure there is a way out of a deal but any chance Flanagan could do everyone a favor and cancel that Week 3 game @ St. Thomas?

It makes no sense for Flanagan, and STA  could do better for themselves by playing Orange City University (it would boost STA's schedule if they are looking for a stronger ranking.)  It would also help Orange City University after losing  week 2.   Flanagan's team avoids injuries and could perhaps find a weaker opponent, in a game they could possibly compete in.  Everybody wins.

I understand this only makes sense in theory and contracts/$/ and red tape may  unfortunately going to make it hard for University OC to find a game...  I hope they can find one...

Just a reminder to anyone that adding any game will not count towards your point and point average for the playoffs. Plus with Irma knocking on the door, who knows what the end of the week could bring.

that is dumb.  Well multiple teams might not play 8 games if this weather continues and the fhsaa won't let teams find games to help out.  typical fhsaa decisions

It was written in the rules. If it becomes evident that they need to reduce the number of games to qualify, they can lower it at their discretion. It was all written in to the rules and anyone can read them. They can play those games, but they won't count because it was not scheduled before the season.

Wasn't there a weather exception in place?

just because it is written in the rules doesn't mean it isn't dumb.  I can see not wanting a team to schedule a game week 11 just to make the playoffs but if a team loses a game or multiple games to weather they should be allowed.  It isn't written into the rules they can can lower the number from 8 either so if it is their discretion then it should be their discretion to allow teams to find new games if their opponents won't reschedule.  It isn't OC University's fault Sebastian River won't reschedule.

It seems some of this was not properly thought out before the rules were finalized. They should make adjustments as these situations become apparent.

The rules state the teams try to work something out or if they can't agree to reschedule that it becomes a scratch on the schedule. It is simple as that.

If OC University can't find another game and plays the rest of the schedule out, then their divisor becomes 9, not 10.

We are going to Gadsden County next Friday. Damn the points....we need to play someone. We've only played DP, we were going into a bye then Sanford. Not ideal! There should be an amendment to the rule, we do get hit with storms occasionally and there needs to be a contingent plan if games get canceled or in our case teams refusing to play!!!

Had another change in plans, we are no longer going to Gadsden County. Now heading to Lake Gibson and playing tomorrow(Thursday) night. All this would have been resolved if the FHSAA had made Sebastian River play the game that was scheduled. We would have gone down there on Saturday or Monday and played and they didn't want to do it, not right and not fair to our kids!!

Orange City vs Lake Gibson should be a great game

Titan, as a fan only, I contacted a Mainland coach after hearing Treasure Coast cancelled this Friday's game wondering if we might be able to play you guys in a "Real" game. Needless to say, I got no response :)  good luck in Lakeland
